Tim Kopra has been a career military officer, astronaut, and now senior business leader. He is currently the CEO of Starlab Space LLC, the commercial space station that will replace the International Space Station. Kopra also serves as the CEO of Nanoracks, a Voyager Space company. Previously, Kopra was the President of OneWeb Technologies, a U.S. company providing global, secure satellite communications. He has also led one of the divisions of Canada’s largest space company, MDA, as Vice President for Robotics and Space Operations.
Additionally, Kopra was Partner and Co-founder of Blue Bear Capital, an energy technology venture capital firm.

Kopra served in various roles at NASA as an engineer, astronaut, and International Space Station Commander. While at NASA, he completed 2 spaceflights, 3 spacewalks, and logged 244 days in space.

As an Army aviator, Kopra deployed to Operation Desert Storm and then commanded an AH-64 Attack Helicopter Company. Following these assignments, he was the Developmental Test Director for the Army’s Comanche Helicopter Program until his assignment to NASA as an astronaut.

Kopra remains active in military affairs as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army. Kopra earned his Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech, and MBAs from Columbia Business School and London Business School.
